LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

We are proud to offer five different indoor learning environments alongside a purpose built outdoor environment, designed to promote exploration and play. Our Learning Environments are reflective of the individual stages of each child.

Alongside our indoor and outdoor learning spaces we have access to our nursery allotment allowing the children to grow and learn about the natural world around them.

We know children must feel happy, secure and safe when they begin their learning journey. Happiness is at the heart of our approach and we deliver individually tailored experiences to ensure our children have positive well-being. From our individual approach to settle each child into the nursery, to our interest-led curriculum, each child’s individual needs are catered for each day they attend our nursery.

Our spaces are ever-evolving and changing to meet the unique needs of each child. They are developed through the gaze of a child, taking into account their needs, interests and stages of development with curiosity and wonder in mind. We offer interesting spaces that provide for open-ended, endless learning. Safety is always our key concern and our spaces provide the optimal safety whilst ensuring children have endless opportunities for learning.

Having deep-rooted relationships with families allows us to understand each family’s individual circumstances and unique needs. It allows us to provide support and assistance where required. Our team provide a friendly and caring environment, not only to our children, but to each child’s family network.

The Heaton House Learning Academy supports our educators with both training through online and face-to-face sessions along with mentoring.

Our programme of learning is designed for each individual child, based on development, needs and interests. It is devised on a daily basis through our planning process. Learning is shared with parents and carers creating a two way channel of communication surrounding each child. Together with families, we celebrate the achievements of each child however large or small.

Specific teaching strategies, influenced by the philosophical thinkers within Early Years, shape our teaching and curriculum. We continuously engage in professional development to enhance our teaching and the experience of the children. The children learn through a variety of mediums allowing them to find a way that suits their own needs.
