GOOD NUTRITION

GOOD NUTRITION

We know that good nutrition positively impacts children’s learning. It helps with healthy physical development, concentration, energy levels, and long-term future health. It’s really important that the food we provide our children meets these needs.

Our menus are designed by our Early Years Chefs using the latest nutritional guidance to meet the demands of our active children. They’re devised taking into account the opinions of our biggest critics, our children alongside feedback from our parents. Our daily menu provides each different food group in the recommended amounts and portion sizes, in line with the government guidelines set out in the Action for Children guidance.

We closely follow the guidance of First Steps Nutrition Trust for children under one year old. Read their guide, Eating well: the first year, for further information.

Have a recipe your child loves? Share it with us and it may just feature in our seasonal nursery menu.

Time to be

TOGETHER

Our mealtimes are not just about eating, they are an experience to be shared together, learning and developing new skills. It’s a time for our children to chat with their friends and team, learn skills and an opportunity for positive food experiences.

DIETARY NEEDS, INTOLERANCES & ALLERGIES

Some children may need to follow a specific diet to meet their individual needs. We’ll ensure that all these details are noted when your child starts their nursery and we’ll continue to work with you at each point of your child’s food journey.

All our team are trained to understand the individual dietary needs of children to ensure they know exactly what to do to support them during mealtimes.

Encouraging your children to

GET INVOLVED

Cooking and food education is a life-long skill which we incorporate into our Nursery Curriculum. Children can explore the food making process in our nursery allotment planting fruit and vegetables. We plan activities to allow children to explore making food. Through this they can develop independence skills.

Knowing how to deal with

FUSSY EATING

We know little ones can be very particular about their food. Our team are professionally trained to provide different ways to help you and your child break those food barriers. Having worked with nutritionists, dieticians and occupational health professionals, we use their gentle strategies to promote positive mealtime experiences, introducing new foods to help your child to try and explore food.
